J and M Trains Temporarily Suspended Because of Police Activity

J and M service was disrupted between Essex Street and Marcy Avenue Tuesday because of police activity.

LOWER EAST SIDE — Service on the J and M trains was temporarily suspended between the Lower East Side and Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon due to a police investigation, the Office of Emergency Management tweeted Tuesday. 

According to the MTA, service between Essex Street and Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn, was interrupted in both directions for about a half hour.

Regular service resumed at 12:40 p.m.

The nature of the police activity was not immediately clear.
