MANHATTAN — A churchgoing elderly man was struck and killed by a car in Harlem Sunday morning in a hit-and-run accident just steps from his home, authorities said.

Luis Rosado, 75, was hit by an unknown vehicle heading south on Broadway, near 138th Street, just before 7:45 a.m., according to police and fire officials.

After the accident, the vehicle took off, according to cops.

Police said that Rosado, who lived steps away on 138th Street and had two sons, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I knew him for over forty years. We would walk the neighborhood and talk," said pal Ramon Castillo, 75. "I'm very upset. I hope they catch who did this. It's terrible."

And Jose Guzman, 45, another friend said: "He was a well liked man in the neighborhood. He will be missed by a lot of people."
