MANHATTAN — Multi-platinum-selling superstar Whitney Houston, a New Jersey native who spent the early part of her life singing in New York City venues, reportedly died Saturday. She was 48.

The highly decorated hit-maker, who amassed six Grammy awards spanning three decades, was reportedly found dead in Los Angeles of unknown causes.

Born in Newark, N.J., Houston got her start performing in Manhattan before being discovered by legendary record producer Clive Davis.

The “I Will Always Love You” singer also appeared in multiple films, including 1992’s “The Bodyguard” and 1995’s “Waiting to Exhale.”

Her life was later marked by controversy that included allegations of drug use during her marriage to Bobby Brown.

One of the world’s highest-selling artists, Houston earned the distinction of being the most awarded female artist of all time, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
