Unruly Passenger Sparks Bus Crash on Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn Updated February 9, 2012 7:51pm

BROOKLYN — A city bus smashed into scaffolding in Downtown Brooklyn Thursday evening, injuring four, after an unruly passenger tried to assault the driver, authorities said.

The B45 bus jumped a curb outside 210 Livingston St., near Hoyt Street, about 6:49 p.m. and ran into scaffolding outside the building, the MTA and FDNY said.

The bus driver claimed he was being assaulted by a passenger at the time, causing the crash, an MTA spokesman said.

Four people suffered minor injuries in the crash, with at least one taken to Long Island College Hospital, fire officials said.

It was not immediately clear if the passenger would face charges.
