Danny Meyer Restaurants and a Wine Shop Open Downtown

By Julie Shapiro | January 30, 2012 4:11pm

OPENINGS:

It's been a busy month at the Goldman Sachs-owned 102 North End Ave. building in Battery Park City — and not just because Danny Meyer opened two restaurants there. In addition to Meyer's Blue Smoke barbecue joint and the fancier North End Grill, run by chef Floyd Cardoz, other recent openings include Beans & Greens for salads and sandwiches, Wei West for Asian fusion food and a second neighborhood outpost of the Battery Place Market.

Just across a pedestrian walkway, Vintry Fine Wines has opened at 230 Murray St. in the base of Goldman Sachs' West Street headquarters. The shop by Downtown restaurateur Peter Poulakakos features about 2,500 wines, some drawn from Peter's father Harry Poulakakos' personal collection.

Annelore, a new boutique by designer Juliana Cho, has opened at 13 Jay St. The 1,200-square-foot shop is much bigger than the clothing line's other outpost in the West Village and has more room to showcase jewelry and accessories in addition to the locally made dresses and tops, Tribeca Citizen reported.

COMING SOON:

Super Linda, a Latin-American restaurant from Downtown bar owner Matthew Abramcyk, is opening soon in the former Delphi space at 109 West Broadway. The 5,000-square-foot, two-level bistro will specialize in ceviche and grilled meats.

CLOSINGS:

Moomah Cafe, the child-friendly eatery and crafts space at 161 Hudson St., is closing as of April 1. The popular TriBeCa spot, founded by Tracey Stewart, wife of "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, will take on new life as a nonprofit, the owners said, but details have not yet been announced.

The Subway sandwich shop that rose in a construction trailer alongside 1 World Trade Center has closed, Crain's New York Business reported. The Subway outpost, which opened in June 2010 so that workers building the tower would not have to go all the way back to the ground for lunch, became unwieldy as the skyscraper reached the 90th floor, so it was forced to close.

Sea World has closed at 321 Church St., and Saluggi's Italian restaurant is replacing it with an eatery that sells sandwiches, Tribeca Citizen reported.

Twin Cafe, the deli at 275 Greenwich St., has closed, Tribeca Citizen reported.
