Jerome Avenue Carjacking Suspect is Bespectacled and Balding, Police Say

By Tom Liddy | January 29, 2012 12:19pm

BRONX — Cops are hunting for a bespectacled, balding carjacking suspect who stole a minivan from a mom whose 3-year-old son was still inside and then plowed into her in the Fordham section, police said.

In surveillance footage taken shortly after the broad daylight crime, which left the mom with a broken leg, the suspect can be seen walking briskly down the street, donning tan pants and looking around nervously.

The wild carjacking unfolded in front of 2651 Jerome Ave., near West Kingsbridge Road, just after 1 p.m. Saturday.

Cops said that the 45-year-old victim had just parked her Honda Odyssey and was about to remove her 3-year-old son when the suspect hopped inside.

The mom jumped in front of the car to stop it, but the suspect plowed into her, striking her, before taking off, police said.

Cops found the car in front of 2600 Davidson Ave. — just around the block — about an hour later.

The boy was discovered safe in his car seat.

Cops said that the suspect is 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and was wearing glasses when he was last seen.
