MANHATTAN — An Inwood grandfather murdered his wife and then killed himself by taking pills in a tragic murder-suicide, police sources said.

Yanet Soto, 54, was found with cuts to her face in the bedroom of the apartment she shared with her husband Jesus at 24 Arden St., near Nagle Avenue, just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Sources said that her 56-year-old killed his wife and then downed pills.

He was also found in the bedroom with a non life-threatening cut on his hand.

Yanet Soto's daughter and granddaughter found the couple when they returned to the apartment, sources said.

The Medical Examiner's office said the cause of death for Yanet Soto was multiple stab and slash wounds. Autopsy results for her husband are awaiting further testing.

"They were very cool, very funny people. Very family-oriented,” said neighbor Alex Valdez, 33.

“I saw the granddad two days ago. He was just walking," Valdez added. "Everything seemed normal.”
