MANHATTAN — Love was in the air at the Crossroads of the World.

While couples, strangers and even Mayor Bloomberg and Lady Gaga shared a kiss at the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square, some lovebirds decided to take their relationships to the next level.

Chris Okrongly, 27, of New Jersey, took the opportunity to pop the question to his girlfriend Allie Stark, 21, of Port Jefferson, LI.

"We met at work and I instantly fell for her and her Eva Mendez looks," said the beaming beau.

Okrongly dropped down on one knee on 43rd Street around 10 p.m. and asked Stark to marry him.

"I do," said Stark.

"What better place to propose than Times Square in New York City," said Okrongly.

Michael Zepeda also took advantage of the romantic moment to take the plunge, getting down on one knee as his girlfriend, Melissa Koran, was taking a picture of the ball.

"I figured right now would be the best time, unexpected, and it worked. I'm going to be married," Zepeda said.
