Sneak Peek at Gay Hotel The Out NYC, Opening in 2012

By Mathew Katz | December 28, 2011 1:49pm

HELL'S KITCHEN — In just a few short months, visitors from all over the world will be able to check in at The Out.

LGBT-friendly hotel The Out NYC has released a new, detailed sneak peak of what the long-awaited, much-delayed inn opening in Hell's Kitchen will look like.

The self-described "gay urban resort," at 510 W. 42nd St., is set to debut in the first quarter of 2012 and will feature 105 upscale rooms starting from about $250 a night, developers said.

There's also a 5,000-square-foot wellness center and three courtyards — not to mention the XL Nightclub, touted as the city's largest, seven-night-a-week gay club, set to open in January.

Both projects were damaged by Hurricane Irene in August, delaying their original opening dates of late 2011, the club's owners said.

A spokesperson for the hotel said the building's design hasn't changed, but the new renderings, first published by Curbed, show the sassy hotel's chic look in greater detail.

XL itself hopes to attract both visitors to the hotel as well as members of the local gay community. Locals and regular visitors can sign up for a membership card to the club, which gives them free or discounted admission, a discount on drinks, and discounts on rooms at The Out.
