MANHATTAN — An Upper West Side Chase Bank branch has been the target of three robberies in the past six months alone, according to records from the NYPD and FBI.

A thief hit the branch at 2438 Broadway, near West 90th Street, most recently on Nov. 17, police said.

In that case, the suspect approached the teller and passed a note demanding cash. But the bank worker refused and the suspect fled.

He was described as being in his 30s with a slim build, wearing a black jacket, black hat and black pants, police said.

In June, the bank was allegedly hit by Sam Chatman, an armed robbery suspect who was known to frequent casinos.

Chatman, who authorities said targeted Chase branches exclusively, robbed the branch on June 18, according to the FBI. He was arrested without incident in Indiana in August.

On June 6, a suspect described as in his 40s tried to rob the branch but fled empty-handed, police said. He allegedly targeted two other Chase bank branches during a spree.

It was not immediately clear if that suspect was caught.

Police recently said that a Chase bank branch at 900 First Ave. in Turtle Bay was targeted by thieves twice in the past six weeks.

Tom Kelly, a spokesman for JP Morgan Chase, said that the company would review the security measures at the Upper West Side branch.

"We review each branch after any robbery," he said.
