OPENINGS:

Anglo-themed eatery Westhall opened at 19 Greenwich Ave. on Nov. 3, according to its Facebook page. The menu by London chef Chris Rendell features twists on British classics like pork chops with roasted apple-thyme butter and rabbit and sage sausage, menus published by Grub Street show. Whitehall describes itself as "a new bar and kitchen fusing traditional and modern British cuisine while celebrating everything wonderful about gin, which is to say everything."

The Greenwich Village Country Club at 110 University Place also opened Nov. 3. This 16,000-square-foot space in Bowlmor Lanes' Union Square complex has a nine-hole mini-golf course, beer pong tables and a dance floor. The fifth-floor club, which replaces the circus-themed bar Carnival, had been closed since December 2010, when record snow storms damaged the building's pressurized dome roof.

Further downtown, in SoHo, the first and only pop-up store for Dr. Dre's line of headphones opened Nov. 2. Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, which start at $229 for over-ear models, promise realistic sound quality. The 67 Greene St. pop-up store will be open through mid-January.

CLOSINGS:

The original Ray's Pizza at 27 Prince St. closed on Oct. 30. After more than 50 years in business, the pizza counter said "arrivederci" with $1.50 slices. Long-time Ray's fan Peter Ferraro said he was "heartbroken" by the pizza joint's closure.
