GREENWICH VILLAGE — People in the Village will soon have another place to get their burrito fix.

A new Chipotle is expected to open at 405 Sixth Ave. on Nov. 16, a spokeswoman said, replacing a McDonald's that closed there in mid-August.

The "quick-gourmet" restaurant will have Chipotle's standard assembly line of tacos, burritos, bowls and salads, spokeswoman Katherine Newell Smith said.

"There aren’t a lot of moving parts to our menu, so we can focus on grilling the perfect chicken, steaming the perfect rice, slow-cooking the best beans and finding the freshest avocados to mash into guacamole,” Chipotle founder, chairman and CEO Steve Ells said in a statement.

A liquor license for the location is pending, according to State Liquor Authority records. Community Board 2 unanimously recommended approval of the application at its full board meeting on Oct. 20.

Greenwich Village residents with a hankering for Chipotle currently have to trek to locations on Varick Street near Houston Street, Sixth Avenue near 14th Street or East 8th Street near Mercer Street.

The nearest McDonald's to the future Chipotle is the 136 W. 3rd St. location where employee Rayon McIntosh was caught on camera Oct. 13 beating two female customers who charged the counter after a fight over their order.

McIntosh, 31, is being held on felony assault charges and customers Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edwards, both 24, were charged with trespass. Darbeau had her skull fractured and needed 20 staples in her head, her father said.
