MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A career criminal was sentenced to 65 years in prison for a trio of horrific violent gunpoint robberies in the East and West villages and Chelsea — including one in which he broke the victim's jaw but made off empty-handed, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Anthony Lindsey was convicted of various felonies, including robbery, attempted robbery and burglary at trial and received the lengthy prison sentence as a result of his violent past.

Prosecutors said Lindsey, 33, struck three times in a one-month period in 2008 with alleged accomplice Adam Temple, 20, who will be tried separately as soon as next month. All of his victims were women in their 20s and 30s, prosecutors said.

Lindsey was convicted of a West 11th Street attempted robbery in which he broke a woman's jaw on Dec. 4, 2008. The victim's injuries were so severe that she was relegated to a liquid diet for two months, according to the DA.

He also tackled a woman from behind during a robbery on West 17th Street Dec. 11, 2008. It's not clear if the woman was hurt.

Then on Dec. 16, 2008, he followed another victim into her East Village apartment building, pushed the woman to the ground, held a gun to her head and stole her writings.

Lindsey has five prior felony convictions for drug sales, bank fraud and attempted robbery dating back to 1997 as well as two misdemeanor convictions.

After his lengthy sentence, he'll be on probation for another five years according to the sentence issued by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Lewis Bart Stone on Wednesday afternoon.
