Purse Snatcher Targets Elderly Women in Broad Daylight

MANHATTAN — Cops are on the hunt for a purse snatcher who has been knocking elderly women to the ground in East Harlem in broad daylight.

Police said that the suspect, described as 20-25 years old and 5-foot-9, approaches the victims from behind on the sidewalk and then knocks them down before fleeing with their purses.

In the first instance, he targeted an 80-year-old woman near 325 E. 106th St. on Oct. 2 at 2:10 p.m.  Then, on Oct. 13, at 1 p.m., he allegedly attacked a 72-year-old woman at 309 E. 108th St.

Both victims sustained minor injuries.
