MANHATTAN — A truck driver was stabbed on an Upper East Side Street in broad daylight over a parking space, cops and witnesses said.

The 62 year-old victim was wounded near Third Avenue and East 86th Street just after 3 p.m.

Sources said he was approached by another man and stabbed.

Gemma, a fruit vendor on the block for 20 years who declined to give her last name, claimed that the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta had asked a truck driver parked on East 86th Street if he could squeeze into the space behind between the truck and Gemma's fruit truck.

The truck driver refused because he needed to unload cargo, prompting the car driver to out of his vehicle and throw a punch, Gemma said.

Gemma said that a friend of the car driver then came out of a nearby P.C. Richard and stabbed the truck driver with a box cutter before he, the driver and two other passengers sped off.

"They just stabbed they guy, left him there on the floor, made a U-turn and drove away," she said.

The victim was taken to New York Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, fire officials said.

No arrests had been made, police said.
