If you wait long enough, just about everybody worth seeing eventually makes it to Manhattan. This week, we see reformed bands and those returning from hiatus gracing us with their presence. Olivia Tremor Control are back in action after a decade on the sidelines, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham is back in solo mode with a great new album, and reinvigorated late '70s synth titans from the UK, OMD and The Human League, are keen to prove they haven't lost their mojos. Wilco resurfaces with a great new album (and with new wave popster Nick Lowe in tow) and even punk legends The Descendents and the fellas from Kyuss have hit the road again.

Wednesday September 21
Founders (along with Apples In Stereo & Neutral Milk Hotel) of the influential '90s label Elephant 6, Olivia Tremor Control reformed in 2010 after a ten year hiatus. Stream their first track since 2000 now: "The game you play is in your head, parts 1, 2, 3"  Tonight they're at Le Poisson Rouge

Also tonight: '80s icons Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (remember the Pretty In Pink soundtrack?) play with the original lineup alongside Australian songwriter Washington at Irving Plaza.

Thursday September 22
Hip-hop synth trippers Black Moth Super Rainbow are playing with droney ambient project Lichens  and the delightfully monikered (and sonically bizarre) The Marshmallow Ghosts at Le Poisson Rouge  — also Wednesday night.

Also tonight:  Exotica is on the menu at Terminal 5 with Beirut & Laetitia Sadier (the voice of Stereolab). Also Wednesday.
Wilco with Nick Lowe, Rumsey Playfield, Central Park. Also Friday.
Swedish progressive metal band Opeth unveil new album "Heritage" at Webster Hall, also Wednesday.

Friday September 23
Californian pop-punkers The Descendents formed in 1978 and evolved into a crucial component of the early '80s LA hardcore scene. Although the band has re-formed several times (1984, 1988 and 2004) this current burst of activity began late 2010 with an Australian tour. With New York's melodic hardcore H2O & Detroit's The Suicide Machines, Roseland Ballroom.

Also tonight: Although singer John Garcia said recently "there is never going to be a Kyuss without Josh Homme," it seems there can be a Kyuss Lives! without the ginger-haired one. Kyuss Lives! at  Terminal 5.
The Human League @ Best Buy TheaterThe Rapture @ Webster Hall.

Saturday September 24
Lotus will be playing tracks off their more electronic self-titled album at Terminal 5.
Also tonight: Wavves and F**ked Up at Webster Hall.

Sunday September 25
Mercury Award winners Elbow bring their melodic indie pop to Terminal 5. Worth a trip westside just to hear their sublime "Lippy Kids".

Also tonight: Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks unveil their new album "Mirror Traffic" with Holy Sons. Webster Hall - also Monday.

Monday September 26
I hope the B.B. King Blues Club has plenty of bourbon, scotch and beer in stock! Delaware's dirty rocking bluesmen George Thorogood And The Destroyers are in town. Also Tuesday.

Also tonight: Oh Land at The Bowery Ballroom.
Ray Lamontagne & the Pariah Dogs, Rumsey Playfield, Central Park.

Tuesday September 27
Californian indie-poppers Foster the People are exploding at the moment (not literally, of course.) Their "Torches" album recently hit top 10 on the Billboard album chart. With Reptar, and Cults, at Terminal 5, also Wednesday. Good luck finding a ticket - these have been sold out for a while.

Also tonight: Lindsey Buckingham unveils his acclaimed new album "Seeds We Sow" - his first non-major label album at The Town Hall.
Mogwai's latest EP "Earth Division" is much softer than their often heavy melodic wall of sound. The Soft Moon and Errors round out a bill worth arriving on time for - early show, 6.30pm at Webster Hall. Also Monday night.
