MANHATTAN — The West Village will go Southern this weekend for the Hudson River Park's 12th annual Blues BBQ.

The free party on Pier 54 Sunday will bring together some of the country's most noted blues bands and the best barbecue the city can muster.

The New Orleans brass funk band Bonerama, whose name is a nod to the trombone, will headline the event. They will be joined by Canadian vocalist Shakura S'Aida, guitarist and singer Walter Trout and others.

Between sets, blues fans can gnaw on ribs and other Southern specialities from Ember Room in Hell's Kitchen, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Harlem, Daisy Dukes BBQ on Staten Island and Brother Jimmy's BBQ, which has several city locations.

The gates at Pier 54, on the Hudson River just south of 13th Street, will open at 2 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. for this rain-or-shine event, which wraps up the Hudson River Park's summer schedule.

Blues and barbecue fans took to Facebook to express their excitement.

"I can hardly wait for this one. The blues is alright," one fan wrote on a Hudson River Park page.
