Police Seek 'Bicycle Bandits' Wanted for Village Mugging

GREENWICH VILLAGE — Police are on the hunt for two men suspected of committing a robbery in the Village while riding their bikes.

Cops say the suspects, who were captured by surveillance cameras, rode up to a 21-year-old man on their silver bicycles at the corner of East 10th Street and University Place about 12:40 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1.

They told the victim that they had a gun and demanded cash, police said.

The two men then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and other items belonging to the victim, the NYPD said.

One of the suspects is described as between 20 and 30 years old, standing 5-foot-8 and weighing about 160 pounds. The other is described as between 20 and 25 years old, standing 5-foot-7 and weighing roughly 170 pounds.

Both suspects have medium builds and were wearing white T-shirts at the time of the incident, police said.
