GREENWICH VILLAGE — Filmmaker/writer/actor Miranda July is coming to the IFC Center to chat about a talking cat, a talking moon and committing to doing 30 interpretive dances in 30 days.

July — known for her participatory art, including a set of 11 sculptures installed in Union Square last summer — will speak at the Sixth Avenue theater this weekend about her new movie opening Friday, "The Future."

Narrated by a warbly voiced cat, which July voices, "The Future" tells the story of a couple in their mid-30s played by July and actor Hamish Linklater. The pair confronts anxiety about their lives when they adopt a cat together.

“It’s kind of about letting go of that feeling of my 20s, that feeling that I will do absolutely everything, I will have sex with everyone, I will go to every country,” July told The New York Times. “In your 30s, it’s obvious that a finite amount of things will happen.”
