Katy Perry's Dress Does Smurfette Proud at 'The Smurfs' Premiere

By Carla Zanoni | July 25, 2011 5:38pm

MANHATTAN — That's a very Smurfy dress, Katy Perry!

The voluptuous singer showed up to the premiere of her new film, "The Smurfs in 3D," at the Ziegfeld Theater Sunday wearing a form-fitting white mini-dress bedazzled with the image of Smurfette, whose voice Perry performs in the film.

Perry's two most pronounced assets were covered up in a sweetheart neckline featuring Smurfette's blonde bangs and the signature Smurf cap.

Although she stopped short of painting her face and body blue, Perry did try to match her cartoon alter-ego with a new blonde, shoulde-length bob. Perry's gotten into trouble for dressing more X-rated than R-rated before, when her sing-along with Elmo on Sesame Street got yanked from the show because some thought her plunging neckline was not appropriate for young viewers.

The movie returns to the Smurf Village 30 years after children first laid eyes on the blue-hued Saturday morning favorite in the '80s.

This time the Smurfs have been chased out of their home by evil wizard Gargamel, voiced by Hank Azaria, and head to New York City for an adventure.

Perry, who was also joined by actors Sophia Vergara, Brooke Shields and Neil Patrick Harris on the blue carpet, tweeted before hitting the premiere.

“Headed to SMURF VILLAGE for the premiere of The Smurfs!!! I'm SMURFETTE!!! I'm blue...aba de aba die aba de aba di aba de aba di! YAY!,” she wrote on her Twitter feed.
