INWOOD — Drivers may want to add extra time to their commutes as the Henry Hudson Bridge and upper portion of the Henry Hudson Parkway get ready to close down — for the next three years.

Starting Monday, two of three lanes on the southbound Henry Hudson Bridge and one of two lanes on the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway leading to the bridge will be closed nightly Sunday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction.

One bridge lane and parkway lane into Manhattan will remain open at all times.

“Motorists are advised that they may experience delays during these times,” read an announcement from the MTA.

The construction plan is part of the MTA’s $33 million three-year rehabilitation of the upper level of the Henry Hudson Bridge, which will replace bridge decking and the original 1930s-installed steel curb stringers that support the top roadway on either side of the 75-year-old bridge.

MTA officials said the project would also introduce new energy-efficient roadway lighting, which will replicate the original 1938 light poles in keeping with the bridge's Depression-era design.

Earlier this year, the MTA said the closure is "expected to have a minimal impact on traffic" due to the introduction of a gateless E-ZPass pilot project at the bridge in January.
