LES Man Nabbed with Knife on Tarmac at Newark Airport

MANHATTAN — A Lower East Side man was caught wtih a knife on the tarmac at Newark Airport Saturday night, according to published reports.

Xiang Xun Shao, of Broome Street, had been waiting near a Continental taxiway when he allegedly hopped a mechanical barrier at 6:30 p.m., according to the New York Post.

The suspect allegedly sprinted across the tarmac, but was tackled by Port Authority police, the report said.

Shao was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Newark for psychiatric evaluation and charged with weapons possession, and trespassing.
