MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — 'Boardwalk Empire' actress Paz de la Huerta was set to plead guilty to harassing an MTV reality figure in exchange for alcohol treatment and community service on Thursday, but the deal was postponed two weeks.
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Diana Boyar delayed the plea deal in order to get more details on De la Huerta's proposed alcohol treatment program.
The actress, 26, was charged with throwing a punch and a drinking glass at reality star Samantha Swetra of MTV's "The City" at the Standard Hotel on March 20. DeLaHuerta reportedly gave Swetra a bloody nose.
She was charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree weapons possession, attempted assault and harassment, but was expected to plead guilty to second-degree harassment, a violation. In exchange, she faces one day of community service and court-ordered treatment.
The star's attorney, Jamel Oeser-Sweat, said the Center for Motivational Change on Fifth Avenue would be able to evaluate de la Huerta next week.
"We have made an appointment with the program," Oeser-Sweat said.
The judge renewed an order of protection barring de la Huerta from contacting Swerta. Her attorney asked the order be clarified because "sometimes they're in the same social circle," but the judge declined to modify the order.
"If she sees [Swetra], go in the other direction," Boyar instructed the actress, who appeared in court Thursday in a long black skirt and a black blouse.
The Manhattan DA's office said such plea offers are a matter of standard practice in misdemeanor cases where the accused has no criminal record.
De la Huerta is currently filming the next season of the HBO hit series. She is also set to work on a film in Montreal in the near future, her attorney said.
The case was adjourned to July 28.
