Homeless Man Reportedly Attacked in Union Square

UNION SQUARE — A 56-year-old homeless man is in critical condition after being assaulted in Union Square early Friday morning, the Daily News reported.

The incident happened around 1:20 a.m., when the alleged attackers surrounded the man as he slept on a bench near 15th Street, the newspaper said.

"I don't know who started what but a group of the young kids were all around him," another homeless man, Mitch, told the News.

"One of them hit him in the head and he fell."

There were no immediate arrests, the paper said.
