EAST VILLAGE — A controversial bakery, a three-story lounge and a gay bar are among the liquor-license applicants slated to make their cases before Community Board 3 this month.
The July agenda for Community Board 3's liquor-license committee includes a host of new applicants in the nightlife-rich East Village and Lower East Side, with both familiar names and brand-new ventures set to pitch the notoriously fickle board.
Among the applicants for full liquor licenses is a reported new, 9,000-square-foot triplex bar at the corner of Delancey and Ludlow streets, courtesy of the proprietors behind popular rooftop lounge The Delancey a few blocks away.
After pulling their application last month, owners of the building that formerly housed the controversial nightclub Sin Sin plan to request a wine and beer license for a new bakery called Sweet Boutique at the corner of Second Avenue and East 5th Street.
Other notable applicants include the bar Niagara at 112 Avenue A, rock club Bowery Electric at 327 Bowery, gay bar Phoenix at 447 E. 13th St., the restaurant slated to take over the former Mara's Homemade space at 342 E. Sixth St. called The Toucan and The Lion, and the fried-food sister location of the Artichoke Pizza empire, Led Zeppole, at 328 E. 14th St.
The meeting will take place on Mon., July 15, at the JASA/Green Residence, 200 E. 5th St. The board full list of applicants is listed below:
