MANHATTAN – A sexual predator was on the loose in Harlem after attacking a 12-year-old girl in an elevator, law enforcement sources said.

The suspect set on the victim at an apartment building in Central Harlem on June 21 at 6:25 p.m.

He allegedly followed her into an elevator and sexually assaulted her.

It's not clear how he got into the building, but sources said that he is a stranger.

Police did not disclose the location of the attack, except to say that it occurred within the 28th Precinct.

It's also not clear if the girl lives in the building.

There was no immediate indication that the assault was related to a series of attacks in Upper Manhattan and the Upper West Side in recent weeks.

Four women were assaulted in Inwood, Washington Heights and the Upper West Side in one weekend last month, sparking a wave of fear in the neighborhoods.

The suspect in this attack is described as 25-30 years old, 5-foot-11 with a medium build.

He was last seen wearing a striped golf shirt and blue jeans.
