MANHATTAN — The surging Yankees and Mets will meet for their second Subway Series of the season Friday night.

The crosstown rivals come into the three-game series at Citi Field in Queens playing some of their best baseball of the year during interleague play.

The Yankees are riding a season-best five-game winning streak, and the Mets have dominated American League opponents by claiming three out of their last four series.

The Bronx Bombers (48-31), who come into this weekend's series sporting the best record in the AL, won the season's first Subway Series in May by taking two out of the three games from the Amazin's (41-40).

Ivan Nova (7-4) is expected to take the mound for the Yankees in the opener, facing off against the Mets' Jon Niese (7-6).

Nova is attempting to extend his career-high winning streak after going 3-0 over his past four starts.

Niese is pitching equally well, going 4-1 over his last six starts.

The first pitch in Friday's game is set for 7:10 p.m., with Saturday's game scheduled for 4:10 p.m. and Sunday's for 1:10 p.m.
