MANHATTAN — Long Island Rail Road passengers heading to Penn Station can expect another evening rush of delays and travel headaches.

The Long Island Rail Road is facing "scattered" 20 to 30 minute delays out of Penn Station "with some additional canceled/combined trains, due to a smoke condition in one of the East River Tunnels," the MTA reported on its website.

There is also no westbound LIRR service between Jamaica and Penn Station, the MTA said.

The subway system will honor LIRR fares to Penn Station from Jamaica and Woodside, the transit agency said.

The smoke incident started at 5:37 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. There was no visible fire and no injuries, he said. The smoke may have come from an overheated air conditioner or feeder cable on a train, he added.

"Absolute madness in Penn Station," Kristyn Clark tweeted from the train station.

"Penn Station is a f------ shit show right now: delays and cancelations all over the place. thanks LIRR [for] another awesome commute home," John Zanussi tweeted.
