HARLEM — The FDNY closed off part of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. Friday after falling debris from a building there showered bricks onto the sidewalk below.

Fire officials responded to 2041 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. between 122nd and 123rd streets at approximately 8:12 a.m., cordoning off the area until the Department of Buildings could complete its inspection of the building, according to the FDNY.

No injuries were reported, according to fire officials.

Tenants of the building said bricks rained down from the five-story building, which they said have been allowed to have fallen into disrepair, with threadbare brickwork and chipped windowsills.

“Now it's time for the landlord to redo the whole thing. But then he can raise the rent five times,” said the resident, who declined to give his name.
