HELL'S KITCHEN — It might be the cleanest the 7 train tunnel will ever look.

Photos posted to the MTA's Flickr page on Wednesday reveal the pristine current state of the long-awaited extension of the subway line that will extend the 7 train from Queens to the west side of Manhattan at Eleventh Avenue and 34th Street.

The photos show seemingly endless stretches of concrete tunnels and a cavernous, bare-walled station.

The new station and tunnel are expected to cost an estimated $2.185 billion to construct, an MTA spokesman said Friday. Hell's Kitchen residents' days of schlepping to Eighth Avenue to ride the subway should end in December 2013, when the future station is scheduled to open.

A second station at Tenth Avenue and 41st Street was originally in the works but was dropped from plans in October 2007.

"That may be revisited sometime in the future," an MTA spokesman said about the second station.

Two 1,000-ton boring machines named after Mayor Michael Bloomberg's daughters, Georgina and Emma, completed the extension tunnel last July.
