'Summer in the Square' Fitness Program Kicks Off in Union Square This Week Updated June 14, 2011 7:56pm

MIDTOWN — No plans for Thursday?

Union Square Park is kicking off its Summer in the Square series with a program that will get you into shape throughout the summer.

The weekly program, an initiative of the Union Square Partnership, will run every Thursday through Aug. 11. Participants and spectators can expect a variety of fitness programs starting 7 a.m, kids programs at midday and a music show after 6 p.m.  

For this first Thursday the day begins with Lululemon Athletica’s Running 101 at 7 a.m followed by a yoga session with Ishta Yoga at 8 a.m. Then there's a full body aerobic workout at 9 a.m with Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp.

The kids are also included with a 10 a.m. Mommy and Me Yoga session presented by Yoga Stars. Midday, the young ones can groove to a set by DJ Fire Traxx and Emcee Mr Marc.

The day's festivities ends with music from the Brooklyn-based group Friends at 6 p.m.
