MANHATTAN — An angry straphanger attacked an elderly one-legged veteran in a wheelchair after the disabled man apparently took too long getting on an M15 bus on the Upper East Side, MTA officials said.

The horrific Tuesday morning incident, first reported by MyFoxNY.com, occurred at a bus stop on Second Avenue at East 88th Street.

A tipster told Fox that a woman was screaming and cursing at the man and eventually hit him as he sat in his wheelchair on the bus. Other passengers reportedly prevented the disabled man from striking back.

The bus driver, who apparently did nothing during the fight, was issued a violation for failing to report the incident, MTA officials said.

Neither of the individuals involved in the fight were identified.
