WASHINGTON HEIGHTS - A woman was unconscious after falling from a fire escape in Washington Heights, authorities said.

Preliminary indications were that the woman took the tumble from the sixth to fifth floors at 529 W. 158 St., near Amsterdam Avenue around 2:25 p.m., officials said.

The extent of her injuries was not clear.

She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.
