UPPER WEST SIDE — Not too many schools can lay claim to producing both top business leaders and skilled artists, but according to U.S. News and World Report, Columbia University is such an institution.
U.S. News and World Report's annual ranking of graduate program pegs Columbia's business school at ninth place on a national list; fine arts programs are 11th in the country.
First on the B-school list was California's Stanford University; Rhode Island School of Design was tops for fine arts.
Manhattan's only Ivy League school also made strong showings in the education and law categories, with Columbia's programs both ranking fourth in the country.
New York University's law school was sixth. The number one spot for law schools went to Yale University.
Columbia's medical school tied for 10th place with the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the medical research field. Harvard topped the med school rankings.
