WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Move over Matt Damon and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Upper Manhattan's Fort Tryon Park is also a star in the new movie "The Adjustment Bureau."
The film, based on Sci-Fi writer Philip K. Dick's short story "Adjustment Team," tells the story of a politician played by Damon and a ballerina played by Emily Blunt as they try to change their fate.
Largely filmed in New York City, the Hollywood stars shot scenes for the movie in Fort Tryon Park in 2009.
To celebrate, the park's New Leaf Café Restaurant and Bar, owned by urban green space enthusiast Bette Midler, is marking the appearance by offering a free glass of wine to patrons who show a ticket stub from the movie throughout March.
Folks over at the Fort Tryon Park Trust, which oversees care of the park, are excited about the role, but stress that unlike Bloomberg, who made his big screen debut in the film this week, this park is no newcomer to the silver screen.
Although it's been more than 40 years since its last celluloid moment, the park, with its Hudson River vista and the Cloisters Museum and Garden, was featured in 1968's Coogan's Bluff, starring Clint Eastwood.
