MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — The grieving parents of a slain swimsuit designer finally met their daughter's boyfriend — in court where he's facing charges for her murder.

Sylvia and Antonio Cachay, parents of Sylvie Cachay, spoke to reporters outside the courthouse Tuesday, describing what it was like to see accused killer Nicholas Brooks, who had been dating their daughter.

"He looked like he didn't care," mother Sylvia Cachay said. "I didn't see any remorse. He didn't look at me or my husband."

"He didn't face us. He didn't care," father Antonio Cachay added.

Brooks' lawyer, Jeffrey Hoffman, said he did not believe his client was trying to snub Cachay's parents, adding that it was unlikely Brooks even knew they were in the courtroom. As an incarcerated inmate, Brooks is not allowed to face the audience when he's brought before the judge.

Cachay, a rising-star designer, was found dead in a bathtub at the SoHo House Nov. 9, hours after she checked in with Brooks following a fire in her apartment. The 33-year-old designer had bruises on her neck and on her face, prosecutors said. There were also red marks on her neck and hemorrhaging in her eyes.

Brooks was charged with strangling Cachay underwater in their hotel room's bathtub until she drowned. Prosecutors said he acted in a fit of rage after she broke off their troubled relationship.

Prosecutors agreed Tuesday to turn over the autopsy and crime scene materials to the defense team, which is currently deciding whether to call for their own independent autopsy.

Hoffman has said he there may be a dispute about Cachay's cause of death.

"I think the evidence as it's starting to emerge may show a very different picture," Hoffman said, without elaborating.

Brooks told investigators he fed Cachay Xanax pills before her death, leaving her so incapacitated she had to be carried into the SoHo House, according to his statement to police following his arrest.

Brooks is next scheduled to appear in court on April 26.
