MANHATTAN — The outlook isn't getting any brighter for Broadway's seemingly-cursed "Spider-Man" — the musical's production team now faces three violations of federal workplace standards, the New York Daily News reported.
Responding to four incidents of cast injuries last year, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has slammed 8 Legged Productions LLC with a series of citations that carry a total of $12,600 in proposed fines, according to the Daily News.
It was hit by two safety violations last month.
Federal regulators said the company created an unsafe environment making their actors susceptible to "the hazards of falls or being struck during flying routines," the Daily News reported.
While the price of the fines is minimal compared to the $65 million musical's overall budget, the violations are another setback for a show that has already experienced multiple delays in opening. Recently, rumors swirled that the production may add a second director to assist beleaguered Julie Taymor.
"Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark" is currently slated for a March 15 opening.
