CHELSEA — Former Hotel Chelsea manager Stanley Bard is looking to buy the legendary space, according to the New York Post.

Bard, who ran the hotel for 50 years before being ousted from management in 2007, is reportedly displeased with the way the hotel is currently being run.

"I'm not completely happy with what's happened there," Bard told the paper's Page Six column. "They're not renting to any long-term people no matter who they are."

Bard is still a part-owner of the hotel and told the paper he would buy out the other shareholders at a fair price.

Bard is one of a few potential buyers that are rumored to be interested in the historic property, including New York hoteliers Andre Balazs and Ian Schrager.

But Bard told the Post he wouldn't have a problem with either Balazs or Schrager purchasing the hotel.

"These are good people that understand management and wouldn't force the residents out," he told the paper.

The nearly 130-year-old hotel has been home to many of the world's most well-known artists, writers, actors, and musicians, including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Mark Twain.
