MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg promised Wednesday that the city is doing all it can to clear the snow — but he's not taking Twitter requests to personally dig people out.

But that's what Mayor Cory Booker's apparently doing over in Newark. Throughout Wednesday, he's been tweeting with his constituents about which streets needs plowing, and even pitching in with a shovel.

"Just dug out car on Smith St in Vailsburg," Booker tweeted.

"[Q]uitman/spruce need plowing. noone has touch those streets - becoming dangerous," one Twitter user wrote Booker.

"We r on it. DM me ur # if u want 2 talk," the mayor replied.

Asked about Booker's efforts at a press conference, Bloomberg said the Newark mayor was a "good guy."

"I'm certainly going to look and see what he's doing," Bloomberg said.

But would he jump in the snowdrifts himself?

"I have not been out with a snow shovel," Bloomberg admitted.

Then it was gallant Booker to the rescue again, digging New York's mayor out of trouble with yet another tweet: "People far 2 rough on @mikebloomberg - still fighting 2 clear snow in NWK & we are 1/29th size of NYC."
