MIDTOWN — An early-morning collision between two cabs on Seventh Avenue landed one driver in the hospital but left the other one unharmed Thursday.

The driver of a yellow taxi SUV was taken to Bellevue Hospital after the crash flipped his vehicle over at the intersection of Seventh Avenue near West 49th Street at 7:20 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The SUV rolled over 180 degrees on its roof before landing upright, police and firefighters at the scene said.

The driver of the yellow taxi sedan that was traveling southbound on Seventh Avenue told DNAinfo he clipped the taxi SUV's corner panel after the larger vehicle ran a red light. The driver declined to give his name. Police at the scene did not comment on the cause of the crash.

There were no passengers in either of the cabs, authorities said.

Traffic was blocked on West 49th Street between Seventh and Sixth Avenues, as well as the western lane of Seventh Avenue until shortly after 8 a.m.

Police did not immediately issue tickets to either driver and the crash remained under investigation, officers at the scene said.
