MANHATTAN — Car-owners in the city can relax during the first week of November — alternate side parking regulations will be suspended for three  days.

The suspension will go into effect for All Saints Day on Mon., Nov. 1, Election Day on Tues., Nov. 2 and Diwali on Fri., Nov. 5.

There are no alternate side parking regulations on Sundays throughout the year, meaning that Manhattanites can park on both sides of the street for four out of seven days during the week of Nov. 1.

Alternate side parking dictates which side of a street cars can be parallel parked on any given day. The city suspends alternate side parking and street cleaning to ease traffic congestion on major legal holidays.

Alternate side parking regulations are implemented by the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation and the Police Department.
