EAST HARLEM — A bicyclist was killed after colliding with the door of a parked car and then being hit by a truck on East 120th Street Friday morning, police said.

Marcus Ewing, 27, of Harlem, was heading east on 120th Street near Third Avenue in a bike lane when the driver of a silver Honda opened his door, police said. The bicyclist hit the door and then was struck by a delivery truck.

“I saw blood on the ground. He wasn’t moving," said East Harlem resident Daron Solon, 50, who had just dropped his kids off at school when he saw the man lying motionless near the car at around 8:10 a.m. "His shirt was covered in blood."

The driver of the car was given a summons for unsafely exciting his car, police said. The truck operator was given five summonses for equipment violations.

A security guard working across the street from the accident said the cyclist had a helmet on at the time of the accident.

No criminality is suspected and the investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.
