MANHATTAN — Facebook users complained that the site had gone down on Thursday afternoon, making it the second time in two days that the site has had issues this week.

DownRightNow.com reported that a service disruption was "likely" and said that the site went down about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Thursday's issue caused a stir on the Internet, with thousands of users tweeting about the outage.

"FACEBOOK IS DOWN! CUE PANIC!" Twitter user GeekTech wrote on Thursday, which became one of the most popular tweets on the topic.

Some New Yorkers used the Facebook outage as an opportunity to step away from the computer and enjoy the weather.

"Since facebook went down, I went outside. I forgot how nice September can be. Go outside," tweeted user Broadbandito, who is located in New York.

On Wednesday, Facebook had experienced a third-party networking error that rendered the site inaccessible for some users.

The site's bouts of instability come just days before "The Social Network," a major motion picture about Facebook and its creator Mark Zuckerberg, hits theaters.
