MIDTOWN — Reigning ING New York City Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi will have some heavy competition at this year's race – sandwich enthusiast and TV commercial icon, Jared "Subway Guy" Fogle.

The pair posed for photos in front of the Subway shop on 58th Street near Sixth Avenue Tuesday before embarking on a "marathon training run along the route's celebrated homestretch, encompassing 59th Street between Fifth and Seventh Avenues," according to a statement from Subway.

Jared will likely need a lot more training than Tuesday's run near Central Park to get him into marathon shape. Fogle has also received tips from his fellow Subway spokesmen Michael Phelps and Ryan Howard.

Fogle and Keflezighi were scheduled to run the two blocks on 59th Street between Fifth and Seventh Avenues, according to a statement.

Fogle gained international notoriety as a Subway spokesman, after he claimed to have lost 245 pounds in a single year by eating their sandwiches.
