EAST HARLEM — Last year, El Museo del Barrio kicked off the fall season with a newly-renovated building, but this year's opening is guaranteed to be less pleasing to patrons — a 50 percent rise in suggested admission prices.

The cost of entering the museum will go from $6 to $9 on Sept. 17 for adults. The price for students and seniors will go up from $4 to $5.

The new prices come on the heels of the museum re-opening following a year-and-a-half long renovation that added gallery space, a cafe and expanded public programs in October of 2009.

In addition to debuting new prices, the museum will open a new fall show, called "Nueva York (1613-1945)."

The show, which is co-presented by El Museo and the New York Historical Society, will focus on the Latino influence on shaping New York City.
