UPPER WEST SIDE — A man in an orange vest hit a woman in the head with a baseball bat Tuesday afternoon on West 81st Street between Columbus and Amsterdam avenues, police said.
The woman suffered a laceration to the head and was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, police said. She was expected to survive her injuries.
The incident happened about 4:22 p.m. The man was described as in his 30s.
The victim and the suspect did not know each other, police said.
