MANHATTAN — "Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner turned out for the premiere of the latest installment in the saga, "Eclipse" Monday night in SoHo.

Turns out, though, Manhattan might not have the most intense fans of the vampire romance series, as the stars singled out Rome and South America as having more devoted Twi-hards.

"I think they've been the loudest in Rome. They're really the most passionate," Steward told Entertainment Tonight.

But the often-gloomy actress quickly backtracked, apparently recognizing her faux pas.

"I mean not in terms of enthusiasm," Stewart amended. "Like, in how they show it."

Lautner demonstrated diplomacy off the bat, when asked which fans were the "craziest."

"I wouldn't be able to choose a craziest," the improbably beautiful teenager explained. "I'd say that fans show their passion in different ways."

However, Lautner, 18, did note that South American fans were among the most aggressive.

The third star of the Twilight empire, Robert Pattinson, did not attend the Cinema Society Screening of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," held at the Crosby Street Hotel.

Hunky thespians Cheyenne Jackson ("Finian's Rainbow," "30 Rock"), Patrick Wilson ("Angels in America," "Little Children") and Tom Cavanagh ("Ed") helped fill the vacancy, though none was able to achieve Pattinson's sexy vampire look.

"Modern Family" knock-out Sofia Vergara, model Lauren Bush and pint-sized actress Abigail Breslin were also in attendance.
