MANHATTAN — New York club queens the Scissor Sisters released "Night Work," the band’s third full-length LP, on Tuesday.
Their latest effort continues the Sisters’ predilection for collaborating with gay icons, started with the band’s second album, Ta-Dah, when they worked with Elton John on the single “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’.”
On "Night Work," actor Sir Ian McKellen performs a spoken-word interlude on the single “Invisible Light.” And last weekend, Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue joined the Sisters onstage at the Glastonbury Festival, for a performance of “Any Which Way,” a track off the new album.
Since 2004, when the five-piece disco-rock band released their self-titled debut album to critical acclaim, the Sisters have arguably been America’s — not to mention Manhattan’s — biggest dance music export.
Thus far, "Night Work" has also been well received. Spin.com named it one of the “25 Summer Albums that Matter Most,” and NME called it “the year’s most striking reinvention.”
