MANHATTAN — It's the case of the burglar who put food above loot.

Antoine Ponder, 29, who's accused of breaking into an Upper East Side apartment, allegedly paused to make himself an egg sandwich before getting around to stealing a flat-screen television, court documents said.

The DNA evidence the ex-con left behind in the March burglary-and-snack-break -- which matched his prison DNA profile  -- was a key factor in Ponder's arrest last Monday, authorities told the New York Post.

Only after washing the sandwich down with a cup of orange juice and briefly leaving the apartment did Ponder return for the flat screen TV, which he took so he could sell it for money to buy food, according to the criminal complaint against Ponder.

Jacob Allah, the tenant living in the burgled First Avenue apartment realized something was wrong in his apartment when he saw a frying pan and dishes in the sink, the complaint read.
