UPPER WEST SIDE — The Fairway Market on upper Broadway will keep its popular — but apparently less-than profitable — café open for the next ten to 12 months, a foodie blogger is reporting.

That comes as welcome news to Fairway fans, who rallied to save the café when rumors of its impending closure swept through the Upper West Side, sparking a grassroots protest that included a website, Facebook page, Twitter feed and online petitions.

The grocer apparently got the message. But part of the cafe will be converted into a bagel bakery, the Insatiable Critic blog reported.

Fairway executives will revisit the café issue in the coming months, according to Insatiable Critic.
